Auto Parts: ECM Replacement, computer guru, pep boys

Question
I need to replace my ECM for Maxima 2001 GLE (TSC). What would be the A56 number for the part 23710-5Y010? Trying to get a used or rebuild part which will save me 1000$ if i go and have it done by dealer. Not having any luck to find the box under my glovebox. I'm in the montreal area.

Can i install any 2001 ECM to replace my existing one? Or do i need to get the exact A56 number part? Any idea? Thanks in advance.

Answer
Hi Golam,

It's no wonder you can't find the computer, it's not under the glove box it's under the console.

The Service Number is the important one to interchange correctly. You need to match that number to maintain drivability and operation of the engine.

We have a computer guru here and if you call the number listed below and ask for Norm, I'm sure he can not only help you locate the part, but I'm sure the cost will be reasonable.

Looking for a reputable service technician? My advice on finding a good technician is: Steer clear of the dealership and 'chain' stores like Firestone, Sears, Pep Boys, Monro Muffler/Brake, Midas, etc. as they usually only employ ONE ASE Certified Tech just so they can say they do and chances are, that guy is the asst. manager or manager and is not in the store to diagnose/repair vehicles anyway. Find a service location in the link below or get some names out of the yellow-pages and do a drive-by. Garages that employ ASE Certified Technicians will be marked with the 'Blue-Seal' insignia. If unsure about whether a place employs Certified Techs, just ask to see their credentials. ALL ASE Certified Technicians will be PROUD to show and display their certificate(s).

Thanks for the question, I hope this information was helpful to you.
