Auto Parts: 1987 Honda Civic SI front end, cv boots, brake hoses

Question
Hi Knucklebusters,
I've got a mechanic who owes me some free work on my honda.
The CV boots and Rack and Pinion boots need to be replaced.
What else should I do while that job is being done?
Are there other bushings, axle or suspension parts that should
be done at the same time?
thanks!

Answer
Hi CW,

Well, I guess that would depend on how much he owes you. Axle seals would be a nice addition since the axles will already be removed and they are a pain in the butt to do by themselves. If you have a sway bar/stabilizer bar, have him replace the end links and center bushings and the only other rubber parts on the front would be brake hoses and ball joints. Ball joints should ONLY be replaced if bad and brake hoses should only be replaced when the rest of the hub is serviced unless it is bad.

Good luck.

Looking for a reputable service technician? My advice on finding a good technician is: Steer clear of the dealership and 'chain' stores like Firestone, Sears, Pep Boys, Monro Muffler/Brake, Midas, etc. as they usually only employ ONE ASE Certified Tech just so they can say they do and chances are, that guy is the asst. manager or manager and is not in the store to diagnose/repair vehicles anyway. Find a service location in the link below or get some names out of the yellow-pages and do a drive-by. Garages that employ ASE Certified Technicians will be marked with the 'Blue-Seal' insignia. If unsure about whether a place employs Certified Techs, just ask to see their credentials. ALL ASE Certified Technicians will be PROUD to show and display their certificate(s).

Thanks for the question, I hope this information was helpful to you.
