Auto Insurance Claims: rental car payoff, NATFS, NATS auto theft conclusions/credibility

I rented a car for a friend. She was listed as codriver. she left the states and never returned the car back to rental place in that state as she was suppose too. Rental car took me to court and persecuted me for car since was in my name and my credit card used. My car insurance finally paid car off 4months later. Now that they have paid car off and persecuting friend for the car, I want to know if I am entitle to keep the car since its paid off now from my insurance company or can i buy the car from them? Please help me.
