Auto Parts: 1993 s10 blazer will not start, spark plug wires, s10 blazer

Question
QUESTION: my 1993 S10 blazer was running fine until the water pump went out again. i put on a new one from O'riellys. i changed all the spark plugs all the spark plug wires the distributor cap and rotor. recently i put in new fuel pump and fuel filter. i checked the pump it is working and passing through the filter. the spark plugs have great fire but nothing i try is working it cranks over, i got the engine diagnostic from oriellys and it says there is nothing wrong and yet it still will not start i have been told it could be the (ECM) the brain of the car, but what do you think it could be?

ANSWER: Hi Ken,

Is it possible you misplaced the spark plug wire routings? I'm thinking maybe the rotor is not in the proper position or the plug wires are being routed to the wrong cylinders. The firing order for your 4.3 is 1-6-5-4-3-2.

The easiest way to check for 'no fuel' event is to either manually spray some gasoline into the intake runner and turn the engine over or to try same with starting fluid. (gasoline is better and less harmful for your engine) If the engine starts and then stalls, you know you have a no fuel to the engine situation. If the engine still refuses to start, spark or spark timing is most likely the issue.

Looking for a reputable service technician? My advice on finding a good technician is: Steer clear of the dealership and 'chain' stores like Firestone, Sears, Pep Boys, Monro Muffler/Brake, Midas, etc. as they usually only employ ONE ASE Certified Tech just so they can say they do and chances are, that guy is the asst. manager or manager and is not in the store to diagnose/repair vehicles anyway. Find a service location in the link below or get some names out of the yellow-pages and do a drive-by. Garages that employ ASE Certified Technicians will be marked with the 'Blue-Seal' insignia. If unsure about whether a place employs Certified Techs, just ask to see their credentials. ALL ASE Certified Technicians will be PROUD to show and display their certificate(s).

Thanks for the question, I hope this information was helpful to you.

QUESTION: WHAT CYLINDER IS #1  IS IT THE RITE FRONT? I NEED TO SEE A DIAGRAM IF POSSIBLE

Answer
Hi Ken,

Drivers side (left) of the engine is the primary bank or the odd-bank. So 1-3-5 are on the left side and 2-4-6 are on the right. Front cylinder on the left is #1. Your distributor rotation is clockwise and #1 should be marked on the cap.
