Question
I have 1990 ford f350 7.3L international diesel. How is this engine &auto tran as far as problems? I just got this truck has 100000 miles. Can a turbo help with better fuel milage?                                                      Thank you

Answer
Hi George,

A turbo for the Navistar 7.3 is not just an add-on item. You would snap a rod a few minutes after attaching a turbo to that assembly. It was never designed for it.

Driveline combinations on your vehicle are relatively stable and trustworthy. The key to their longevity is maintenance and proper care most importantly oil grade. If you live in an area that sees snow or temps below freezing, you should use a 15-W40 engine oil and if you are in an area that does not see cold weather normally, 10-W40, 15-W30 are your choices. Valvoline is a top choice with Castrol being a close second and Quakerstate being dead last as always.

Thanks for the question, I hope this information was helpful to you.
