Auto Parts: fuse battery lid, cadillac fleetwood brougham, auto repair manuals

Question
i own an 87'cadillac fleetwood brougham v8 rwd... bought from a private owner 6mo ago. It is missing the cover/lid to the fuse battery(the fuse box on the floor by my brake pedal) I'm assuming that the lid would tell me which volt bus fuse to put in which slot. It only has like two fuses in it right now!! i don't know which ones go where cause i don't have the lid.. the cadillac dealership in my area were no help the car is so old they don't even have the manual. Autozone said the chilton books don't have any info on that problem... my neighbor has the same year same model but he's never home and his lid is missing too lol.  any how can u help??? p.s. have a wonderful weekend

Answer
Hi Rieanna,

In absence of the fuse block cover, if you still have the owners manual, all the fuse locations as well as replacement values will be there. Chilton as well as other aftermarket auto repair manuals will most definitely have fuse information. Autozone employs ANYONE whether they know about cars or not so unless it states it on the computer screen in front of them, they know nothing about it.

My advice on finding a new technician is: Steer clear of the dealership and 'chain' stores like Firestone, Sears, Pep Boys, Monro Muffler/Brake, Midas, etc. as they usually only employ ONE ASE Certified Tech just so they can say they do and chances are, that guy is the asst. manager or manager and is not in the store to diagnose/repair vehicles anyway. Find a service location in the link below or get some names out of the yellow-pages and do a drive-by. Garages that employ ASE Certified Technicians will be marked with the 'Blue-Seal' insignia. If unsure about whether a place employs Certified Techs, just ask to see their credentials. ALL ASE Certified Technicians will be PROUD to show and display their certificate(s).

Thanks for the question, I hope this information was helpful to you.
