Auto Parts: Car Problem, coolant temperature sensor, engine coolant

Question
i have a 1998 cutlass Oldsmobile and i just put a new engine but the problem is whenever i put engine coolant it just starts to come out from the container when the car reaches the 1/2 line of overheat and i would like to know if something is wrong with the cover or should i buy a new container for the engine coolant

Answer
Hi Julio, You may be putting too much coolant in, or the thermostat could be bad, or the coolant temperature sensor could be bad (you can hve that tested at Auto Zone), or yes, the cover may not be sealing if it is just boiling out the top.
