Auto Parts: 93 Chevy S10: Intake Air Temp Sensor, intake air temp, s10 blazer

Question
QUESTION: Christina,
I have a 93 chevy s10 with a 4.3L TBI V6. I was wondering where the Intake Air Temp Sensor would be located on that engine. I have a K&N intake on it so there is no hose from the filter to the throtle body. The stock intake did not have one of these sensors on it anyway. Directly in front of the throtle body on the manifold is a plug with two wires, but I'm not sure if that is the IAT or the Idle Air Control sensor. Would it be possible for you to send me a diagram or a picture of where the IAT is located?
Thanks- Sean

ANSWER: Hi Sean,

I could have sworn I already answered this question, but for some reason it's still in my queue. I know I did some research on it, so if you get this twice it's because for some reason allexperts didn't recognize my first response.

OK- look at this:

If the webpage doesn't come up go to www.autopartswarehouse.com and search for your truck. I also picked the s10 blazer 2 door, I figure the sensor in question is probably not going to be different between the two and four door.
Anyway, this is a picture of the IATS, so try pulling the plug out of the throttle body and see if the sensor inside looks like this one. I'll do some more research on trying to find out where it is exactly and re-email you if/when I find it. The sensor you've found could be both the IATS and the IACS, so I'll keep looking to see where it's at excactly.

QUESTION: Hi Christina,

I the day before I got your e-mail I pulled that sensor out to see what it looked like. When it came out anti-freeze started to come out of the opening on the intake manifold. So I assume that would make this the Engine Coolant Temp sensor. I borrowed my neighbors Chilton book (Blazer, and I have a pick up, same animal though) and it said that they will either have a IAT or a MAT (Manifold Air Temp) sensor. I'm assuming that mine has a MAT because my air filter is directly on top of my throttle body (no ducting to put a sensor). My problem is I can't locate this. I was told the IAT should only have two wires going to it, but what about the MAT? Also, the only plug that resembles the one on autopartswarehouse.com's site from the outside is the ECT. That was also the only one I saw w/ two wires to it. WTF I'm so cornfused. Well I'll keep looking and researching, and waiting your reply. Thanks- Sean

Answer
Sean,

I just wanted to let you know I haven't given up on you, I'm still searching for a diagram that might help us. You said your neighbor has a Chilton's for the truck-it doesn't show where the MAT is at?? That's kind of odd.
Anyway, I'm still looking- we'll get this figured out.
