Car Alarms: Car alarm, dash area, flip switch

Question
I have a '96 4Runner and it will not start. I have replaced the starter and starter relay switch(?) and it still will not start. I tried starting it on Tuesday of last week and it just clicked and when I went to get out of the vehicle the alarm went off. I was unaware it had an alarm. I do not have a key pad to turn it off. I only have a basic key. Is it possible that the alarm has locked the motor and will not allow me to start it. How do I disarm it or disconnect it so it will start again?

Answer
Ok, since it's after market,
try the following:

PUT IGNITION KEY IN IGNITION,
KEY ON TO JUST BEFORE CRANKING THE ENGINE.
PRESS IN AND HOLD VALET SWITCH FOUND UNDER THE DASH
AREA UNTIL YOU GET A RESPONCE FROM THE ALARM.

KEY OFF.

This should toggle the alarm in and out of
valet/override.

If toggle type switch.
KEY ON, FLIP SWITCH, KEY OFF,
START THE CAR.
