Car Alarms: audiovox pro 9644-a car alarm not working properly, rapid responce, valet mode

Question
QUESTION: my transmitter has not been locking or unlocking since yesterday, battery is new and tested, and if i hold down the "lock" button the red light flashes rapidly for 30-40 seconds and the car alarm activates!! not sure how this happened! please help!

ANSWER: May be in a valet/override mode.
Get the manual out and see overriding
alarm mode.

Also, I think there is a thread on this
at www.installsupport.com .

That's my 12 volt Forum, and I think
that was answered there earlier.

Check the search bar on the site.

QUESTION: wow and thanks for that rapid responce , but ,  i tried the reset ....by turning the key to the ignition, pressing and holding the valet button until light flashed on the dash, but (when i opened the door ALARM came on)and the unlock button didnt work still,
so i started over, i pressed the valet button until the light on the dash was on and SOLID, but same results. (when i opened the door alarm came on)and the unlock button didnt work,

ANSWER: Interesting.
Let's go a bit deeper. Is it the same alarm "going off"?

I mean, all things being equal, when in valet mode like you had it,
the siren would be terminated, and the door trigger sensor wire,
and the shock sensor too. So, the question then is...

If the "alarm" going off is the car horn, and head lights,
then it's OEM factory. Is this what we are dealing with possibly?

Please describe it a bit more.

QUESTION: hi thanks again, its is actually the siren and headlight interior and exterior flashing! (no car horn)

Answer
may need to unplug the brain box under the dash and
then re plug. Hard to see from my vantage point,
but if malufunctioning, my first inkling would
be to un plug and reset it.

Then it discounts all Prestige related issues.

If when you reset and it is still acting incorrectly,
it may be related to the wiring, or the brain might have gone bad.
