Car Alarms: ford car alarm, front doors, 12 volt

Question
hi i have a 1997 ford escort 1.8 si.
its a 3 door.
im trying to resolve the issue of my boot lid release not working and i think my alarm is part of the problem.
the central locking works on front doors.
the boot is opened from the outside useing a key or a button in the car but the button isnt working?
when i plug my alarm module in and operate the passenger door this sets the alarm and the led in side lights and then goes off(this doesnt flash if left locked though...should it?,when i unlock same door it deactivates it no problem..when i lock passenger door and unlock from drivers door the alarm goes off.........when i lock the drivers door the led doesnt light at all.

can you explain(with photos if possible) how i can test the doors one at a time to establish which is the faulty lock?...or is it the alarm module?

many thanks
