Car Alarms: Silencer Alarm in 98 Camaro, vats passkey, security light

Question
I have a 98 camaro with a silencer alarm on it and it does not work properly. Sometimes it will not start. I have tried multiple things and have decided just to disconnect the system.

HOW DO I DISCONNECT THE SYSTEM COMPLETELY?

Thanks,

Answer
It does not sound like the Silencer alarm is
causing the trouble. This car also has the VATS system
in the ignition column, and controls the fuel rail system.

From experience, I am betting this is the trouble.

The Silencer may have a starter kill relay on it yes,
but it's more likely to be a bad sensor for the VATS/PASSKEY
system. See www.GMVATS.com and then compare it to your issue.
A starter kill relay would only work if it was armed.
(alarm would sound, parking lights would flash and no reaction
from turning the ignition key would happen. Nothing.)
However, GM's VATS would NOT allow the vehicle's engine to start,
a security light in the cluster would be on or, flashing, and fuel
would not be going to the injectors.

Sounds like a failing VATS sensor is the trouble,
and will need a bypass kit.

As far as removal of the Silencer, you can purchase the wiring
chart for the camoaro and retrofit the system that way.

Good luck with it.
