Car Alarms: valet remote start., valet remote start, fcc id

Question
Hello. I recently purchased a vehicle with the valet remote start system.  The remote has 4 buttons and a green light.  I have followed the programming instructions that came with the remote with no success.  The procedure I'm using is to first turn the key to the on position, and with the driver door still open, push the program button under the dash.  The light will then flash the exact number of times I've pressed the button.  At this point, I press the button on the remote and wait for a response from the flashing light.  The problem is the system doesn't seem to be responding to the remote.  Is there a step I'm leaving out?  I really don't know which Valet system I have, but the numbers on the remote are as follows:  FCC ID EZSDEI474P
RPN 474T 266

There is a sticker under the hood warning that the vehicle may attempt to start when the battery cable is disconnected then reconnected.  I tried that and VOILA!  It starts, so I'm fairly sure the system works.

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.  It's been very cold here in Tennessee and it would be great to be able to use this system.
