Car Alarms: 2005 Malibu Maxx, alarmtek, 2005 malibu maxx

Question
QUESTION: I'm having an issue with my factory security system sounding off with out a reason. The alarm system also is arming itself when the doors are closed. This doesn't happen every time i set the alarm but it has become more frequent over the last month. In this same time frame the remote starter has stopped working as well. I have researched a few places online and haven't come up with any suggestions.

ANSWER: Please be more descriptive if possible.

"GOING OFF?"

I need to determine whether it's a factory alarm
issue or, if it's an aftermarket system you are
dealing with.

Is it: Headlights flashing, car horn honking
and a worded SECURITY" light in the dash flashing?
(doubtfull since none of the notes show this
car as having a factory alarm system)=FACTORY

Or,

is it: flashing parking lights,
an LED in the dash area, and a siren
going off?= AFTER MARKET

Let me know more on this to better
advise you on a course of action
to take.

QUESTION: The vehicle head lights, horn sound and the security light in the dash flash. nothing aftermarket on the vehicle.

Answer
Ok well, not good then.
According to the notes, the only way to disarm the
OEM/FACTORY alarm is by remote starting it with the
RF remote it came with. Faulty system, and needs to be recalled
or at least supported by GM when this occurs.
But that's on you, GM and your warranty.

The solution is to swap out the remote starter they put in
as factory equipment, and sync it to the remote you are using,
or a new remote that does all the functions yours is currently
performing.

The alarm part is "seeing" a perceptible battery drain somewhere
here and is responding to it. Could be anything from very cold weather,
to a bad door trigger sensor, but I'm leaning towards battery detection
circuit. Have this looked into too.

I hope this helps some.
