Car Alarms: my car wont start, mercury mountaineer, steering column

Question
I have a 98 mercury mountaineer and it was starting up with no problem. I just recently had my steering column replace and now my car won't start it's like is hesitating. It sounds like if you pump the gas it will start but it don't. The mechanic said that it's because the truck has a factory alarm on it and the new steering column isn't allowing it to start. And he don't know where the kill switch for the alarm is located. I was just wondering what the problem sounds like it might be. And if it is the factory alarm that's not allowing my truck to start where could this be located at. Thank you so much in advance.
