Car Alarms: Key Fob Trouble, key fobs, resident technicians

Question
I have a 1996 Infiniti I30. It has a dead battery from not being driven for 6 months. Approx. 2 yrs ago, I began using the actual key to open and lock the door because both key fobs stopped working at the same time. I replaced the batteries in the fobs but they still didn't work. When I started using the actual key, it would not trigger the factory installed anti-theft alarm. However, now, when I hook the car battery to a charger and open the door to start the car, the anti-theft alarm goes off. The fob still won't turn it off, Perhaps the device reset itself when the car battery die completely?  What do I do? Could the fob need reprogramming?

Answer
Please, if you would, restate this question
in my installers forum at www.installsupport.com
and see if my resident technicians there can assist
with this project. (ask for Robert!)

He can go into a more detailed assistance
you might need on this project.

Good luck there,
and Merry Christmas!
