Car Alarms: rav4 & securikey, hazard lights, alarm button

I recently purchased a 2001 Rav4 with a Securikey+ system.  All was fine for a few days.  Today I accidentally pressed the alarm button, and now the car is totally disabled.  I followed the instructions in the owners manual and it did not fix the problem.  The owner's manual says to depress the panic button again, unlock a door with the key, put the key in the ignition, and turn it to the ON position.  This is supposed to stop the alarm.  It does not stop the alarm.  The car will not start.  The alarm eventually stops by itself but the hazard lights remain flashing.  As soon as I open a door again, the alarm starts again.  I had to disconnect a battery lead to get the hazard lights to go off.

Right now my car is totally immobilized and undriveable.  HELP!
