Car Alarms: Dodge Intrepid 2000, dodge intrepid, oem factory

Question
Twice since buying this car in August 2007 an alarm episode (car horn honking) has happened for no apparent reason. Is there an alarm system on the car that I don't know about? I was not told there was an alarm on the car when I bought it, nor do I have a remote to arm/disarm one. The only way I know to make the honking stop is to remove the battery cable.

Any ideas?
Thanks,
Rich

Answer
Yes it does have a factory alarm and a transponder
fuel cut off circuit in the ignition.

Normally, you would insert the key in
the drivers door, turn left, then right
to disarm and reset it. Yours was reset.
Try key in the drivers door, turn left, then
right to disarm and unlock.

This should disarm and unlock the car and stop the
noise and lights.

If no joy, you would need to physically ground
out the factory disarm wire.

If this becomes necessary, go to www.wirewerx.com
and buy the OEM FACTORY disarm solution.

Good luck with it.
