Car Alarms: 2005 Mustang, alarmtek, power spike

Question
QUESTION: My wife just bought a use 2005 Mustang. Within the first week we notice the alarm going off randomly with nobody around it. Seems to happen only in our driveway so far. The other day it went off 3 times within 30 min until I reset it. She took it to the dealer today and they said there's nothing they can do unless she leaves it for them to catch it in the act. Any Ideas of things we could try or look for??
         Thanks, Jim

ANSWER: Please be more descriptive if possible.

"GOING OFF?"

I need to determine whether it's a factory alarm
issue or, if it's an aftermarket system you are
dealing with.

Is it: Headlights flashing, car horn honking
and a worded SECURITY" light in the dash flashing?
(doubtfull since none of the notes show this
car as having a factory alarm system)=FACTORY

Or,

is it: flashing parking lights,
an LED in the dash area, and a siren
going off?= AFTER MARKET

Let me know more on this to better
advise you on a course of action
to take.

QUESTION: Its an oem alarm. Flashes and honks. Its not sensitive to any triggers i.e. shaking the car or pulling door handles (dealership tried all these). Just triggers when it feels like it.

Answer
These alarms depend on perceptible battery drain to trigger.
Could be a light, or a bad sensor, but it's "reading" something
and by default, triggers.

Look around for a light on or something plugged in that
could cause a power spike.

If no joy, have Ford dealership try to explain it.
