Car Alarms: Car Alarm and dead batterty, jumper cables, honda accord

Question
I have a 1991 Honda Accord with a built in alarm/anti-theft.  The car has been sitting for awhile and therefore the battery has died.  Here's the scenario: jumper cables will charge the battery but not without setting off the alarm.  the car will run but will not re-start the next day...the only way to re-start is to go through the jumping process again and set off the alarm.  Once the car is turned off, the alarm continues to go off (quietly as if the battery is dying)the only way to make the alarm stop is to disconnect it, then reconnect to get the battery jumped.   the battery has been checked and it is good.  I am wondering if disconnecting the alarm is affecting the battery or if the alarm needs to re-set somehow so it doesn't drain the battery

Answer

fix starter
Sure, it could very well be draining the battery.
The starter kill relay is the likely culprit.
I would remove the alarm and starter kill relay so
you can discount that as a cause for drain.

Then update and install a new one when ready.

Good luck.
