Car Alarms: Add a remote starter, valet mode, sec delay

Question
My 98 4runner (new2me)has pwr locks & dlr installed RS3000 alarm.  It came with no fobs, so I bought universal fobs, which DO lock/arm & unlock/disarm doors/system, but system  won't recognize the fobs to put sys into valet mode (sys has no valet "switch"). I'd like to add remote start, but --when not in valet mode -- rs3000 re-locks/re-arms if no entry @30 secs.  Question:  Will an add on remote start work on the rs3000 without being in valet mode?  The rs3000 manual says that valet mode turns the "security functions" off (won't re-arm), but it doesn't say that the system won't relock.

Answer
John, change the settings for how the
system is armed.

See in the manual for active arming.
(will not arm unless you arm it). Yours is currently
in what's called "passive" mode. (last door arming or
"current sensing/30 sec. delay).

That would allow more control over what and when the
alarm is used and not used, such as in
the remote start cycle.

I don't know the system you have, but that's the way to
set up this project without arming.
That's a normal protocol my equipment here uses.

Hopefully, it will on yours as well.

Have a good holiday.
