Car Alarms: Carbine car alarm, valet mode, response key

Question
We just bought a car from ebay and it came with a car alarm and no manual, the alarm has been disarmed and somehow in valet mode. Which has the car disarmed. I went online found a remote like my the one we have and it came back carbine 6850 or 5850 we cannot find the box in car either to tell if this is right alarm. However according to the manual push and hold valet switch, well I think I found the valet switch but its not working. Please help can't afford to take to shop. How can we arm system again and take out of valet mode. The remote looks like a cell phone with a antenna.

Not sure of the system you have,
but you may have missed the part about

KEY ON, TO JUST BEFORE CRANKING, PRESS AND HOLD
THE VALET BUTTON UNTIL YOU GET A RESPONSE,
KEY OFF= VALET OVERRIDE, OR RESET.

See if this changes your situation.
