Car Alarms: aftermarket car alarm draining battery, mazda millenia, resident technicians

Question
Hi
I have 1 1996 Mazda millenia and i have a suspicion my aftermarket car alarm (that was installed about 6-8 years ago) is draining my battery. I have experienced a dead battery on two occasions when I was gone for the weekend and did not use the car. I recently also experienced this problem when I didnt use the car for even 24 hrs, except this time the battery was not completely drained, just not enough to start the car.
I suspect the alarm because it was installed by my brother a long time ago in NJ, and ive heard these things go bad over time.
Can you pls advice on what to do best.
Unfortunately I do not know the make of the aftermarket alarm, but it has a LED in the dash, and there is a toggle type switch located on the driver side, left side of steering wheel.
If it IS my alarm, how easy is it to disconnect these things, is it just as easy as removing a fuse, or more complicated ??
Thanks

Answer
That's hard to say what the problem could
be without first hand inspection. If you
would, restate this question in my installers
forum at www.installsupport.com and see if
my resident technicians there can assist
with this project. More eyes on this may shake
an idea loose.

They can go into a more detailed assistance
you might need on this project.

Good luck there.
