Car Alarms: alarm disarming, dodge grand caravan, dodge service

Question
I have a 1998 dodge grand caravan. It has an alarm, not sure if its after market or not. Every once in a while, when I try to start the van, its starts, runs for about 1 sec., then shuts off. It does this a 2 or 3 times in a row, then won't even start.. just nothing. I thought it might be the alarm shutting down the ignition. Usually, if I let it sit for a day, it starts right up, but this time its just staying shut down. I tried to turn the key in the driver side door to the left. I thought it might turn off the alarm. When I did, the lock popped up. But then the lock went back down and the dash said "alarm set" . I think it just keeps setting itself and not allowing the van to start... have you heard of this before? Hope you can help, Joseph

Answer
It sounds like a power issue, and withour being able to inspect it. I would have to suggest you take it into a respectable Dodge service dept and have it evaluated. Once done, and if the trouble persists, then you may want to move onto removal or repair of this system.

Let me know after you have the charging/battery system looked into.
