Towing Issues: Unlawful Tow?, tow company, t park

Question
I parked my car in the lot of an apartment building in Ypsilanti, MI, but the sign that was posted was a small faded sign that was facing away from the lot and the entrance. It is barely readable unless you walk up to it. I didn't know that I couldn't park there. Not only that, the tow company towed my car after midnight, but they close at 5pm. Is it true that they can't tow a car after they are closed or too close to their closing time?

I have no knowledge of Ypsilanti MI and its laws nor the Michigan Motor Vehicle Code. But MOST cities and States do have a procedure that must be followed. They just can't run around willy nilly and say Gee, I think I will tow That Car. We call that Theft.
