Car Alarms: alarm problems, dash area, door locks

Question
Hey Alarmtek.  I bought a used 99 Hyundia Tiburon with a starter/door locks/and alarm installed on it.  I have no paper work and know nothing about it.  It got broke into about a month ago and from that point on when i locked my car with the remote my alarm would arm but the locks wouldn't work.  I took it to some fool who had no idea what he was doing who said there was a short in the wiring or the actuator(?? i think is what he called it) was broke and that i couldn't get a new one.  He said he worked on it (he dissabled the passenger side door totally) but now i have to unlock my car to get into it but the ignition won't work, so i have to lock it to start car, but since it is locked the alarm goes off so then i have to unlock it while the car started now.  Its a giant hassle.  My question is how bad did this guy mess up my car? where can i find the model number for my remote start/door locker/ alarm system so someone can work on it because everyone i have talked to about it said they need the model and # of the mother board?

Answer
I can't inspect the work. Hard to pin point that,
sorry.

My best suggestion is to scrap it & start over.
There is nothing safe about having an alarm that you
know  nothing about what it can, and can not do.

Really, for the cost of a new system, pulling it and starting
over with one you understand from the beginning is going
to significantly improve the long term result.
As oposed to patching up and attempting to learn about
it as you go. Not smart.

I say locate a reputable technician, have it evaluated, then
act upon the suggestion he offers. I suspect his review
of your under dash area will agree with mine.

At least have him repair the wiring and keep it from
becoming a huge issue down the road.

Good luck.
