Car Alarms: automate remote start, keyless entry systems, car alarms

I just bought a 97 ford explorer with an automate alarm and remote start.  I found out it had remote start when i hooked up the positive battery terminal and the park light turned on along with the motor.  I've tryed every botton combo on the remote, but none will start the truck remotely.  i've looked online but cannot find instructions, and i don't know the model. remote has lock,unlock, 1 aux, and panic.  alarm and door locks and panic all work great, thanks for the help
