Car Alarms: kill switch, gm service, passlock system

Question
1998 Cavalier with a kill switch only no alarm, just turn the key and push the button. I replaced the spark plugs and wires car was running fine except I noticed a slight whine. Next day battery light came on, car running fine. Next day horrible sound of metal screeching...like alternator or water pump, battery light came on again. The next day car running fine except battery light came on when accelerating and went off when I let off the gas. 1st stop car didn't want to start I had to press the start button 4 times. 2nd stop turn the key all the lights and bells sound off as normal, press the button many times nothing. I tried touching the wires together above the switch still nothing and the fuel pump doesn't engage either. I tried to jump start it but nothing, the dash lights work it is like the battery got shut off from the engine but not the interior. I am open to suggestions and solutions. I would like to bypass this switch or remove it if practical.

Answer
Your modification is limited since this car's PASSLOCK system
is engaged, and will not operate properly without bypassing
the fuel cut off system. :>(

The fuel rail is shut down by design.
The only way to get around this will be to have your
lock GM service depart reset the passlock. Once that's
performed, you can then bypass the system using the
GM PLJX bypass kit. But only once they reset it.

Of course if you can come up with another way, let us all know,
but what I know about the Cavalier goes back 20 years
now, and since 1996, PASSLOCK 1 has been in EVERY one.
No exceptions & they are a royal pain in the ass
to work with if you do not get rid of the PASSLOCK1
system.

Sorry, catch 22 on this one I am afraid.

Good luck.
