Car Alarms: What could this problem be??, viper car alarm, keyless entry systems

Question
I have a 1997 mazda 626 with a viper car alarm and it has worked great up until now. The problem I am having is before when i would hit the lock/unlock button on the remote it would make a beeping noise when it would lock or unlock now it is just locking and unlocking the car with no sound. Also the red security indicator light is staying solid instead of a steady, slow blink. Now what could this be and why do you think it is happening. Also what is a way that I can fix it?
