Car Alarms: 2001 Ram 1500 Keyless Entry, keyless entry system, voltage spikes

Question
I had a bad connection on my battery terminals and my truck did not start.  After having the truck jump started on the way home my alternator voltage spiked to 18 volts according to my voltmeter.  After replacing the battery in my truck my keyless entry system did not work.  I changed the batteries in both remotes but still did not work.  I performed the checks outlined in the owner's manual and did not get any response as was indicated in the manual.  I contacted the dealer and they said some components in the system are vulnerable to voltage spikes and that could be the problem.  The dealer also mentioned something about the body control module but I don't know where it is.
Any help with this situation would be greatly appreciated as I am getting tired of locking/unlocking my truck manually.  I am trying to be very careful not to lock my keys in the truck.  It will happen if I don't get it fixed.  Please help!

Answer
That's hard to say. Pretty involved
to go into here so please, if you
would, restate this question in my installers
forum at www.installsupport.com and see if
my resident technicians there can assist
with this project.

They can go into a more detailed assistance
you might need on this project.

Good luck there.
