Car Alarms: ford explorer factory immobilizer, home security system, radio mast

Question
immobilizer will not arm or disarm when there is a radio mast nearby until i push the car out of the view of the mast is there any way of reprogramming or fitting another device or something

Answer
Odd, but not unheard of.

The immobilizer source in the Ford is not shielded, and there is a stronger signal blanketing that spot. Can be from a radio or cell tower, but likeley as not, a home security system could be
the trouble. Lately this has been the cause of alot of
"signal blanking" issues.

If at all possible, locate and use another spot until you can
research who has an ADT or other RF based system and
do an on and off test with the owners permission.
According to the FCC, this is "acceptable pattern recognition/interference" and there is no recourse
other then to put up with it, compromise with the owner of the stronger signal and see if that can be moved or adjusted,
or park elsewhere.

Sorry it's not the answer you were hoping for, but it is probably what's happening.

Good luck.
