Car Alarms: turing auto arm off, car alarm system, keyless entry systems

Question
QUESTION: I have a 2001 Toyota 4Runner and the alarm auto arms after so many seconds.  How do I turn it off and/or how do I determine what alarm system I have?

Thanks,

ANSWER: It's after market, likely installed at the dealership
when first sold, and the programming for active/passive(yours)
arming is in the proramming manual, and would be a
combination of using the key and the valet
switch to toggle back n forth.

Valet would mean there would be nothing at all
from the alarm. It' is rendered inert.
Your's is in passive arming mode.
(Oh, "stock" alarms don't have velet switches either).

I'd start with identifying the alarm at places
like remotesunlimited.com or keylessride.com
using the FCC ID # on the back of a remote.

Then locate the manufacturer to get the features
setting info directly from the horses mouth.

Good hunting.

QUESTION: First of all, Thanks

My alarm uses the Toyota key less entry remote and thus is a Toyota remote and not an alarm company remote.  Can you think of any other way to determine what the alarm is?

Answer
Well, no.

See for me, the troublesome point here is it "auto arms."
k, 3 tell tale signs...

1. Only alarms "ARM". Not simple keyless entry systems.
Toyota are no exception to the rule.

2. "Auto arms" would only apply to an after market car
alarm system since factory or, OEM systems do not have
that option.

3. It's entirely possible that Toyota has an
agreement for these systems to be installed at they're
dealerships in the US. and you would need to look
at the FCC ID # to start to ID it.

I would be happy to be wrong here since the alternative is a
bit pricier. Toyota will likey not have this in stock
surprisingly, and will leave you at square one again.
