Car Alarms: Deactivating alarm on 1999 Nissan Quest, nissan quest, door switch

Question
QUESTION: How do I disable the alarm on my 1999 Nissan Quest van?  Usually when locking the doors, the alarm goes off within several minutes.  Repair shops have told me that removing the fuse will disable my horn (or some other critical operations).  I just want to be able to lock it without the alarm going off.

Thanks

QUESTION: Thanks again for helping with my mystery.  As you said, it must be one of the plunger-looking sensors in the door - probably that sliding side one which will not always lock from the front door switch.  I've found that I can lock the van (without the alarm light coming on) by reaching through that open middle door and manually locking the front door, which locks all the others - EXCEPT for that middle one - however, when sliding it closed, it locks itself.  The alarm light isn't on and so far the alarm hasn't gone off.  Another clue to that door being the problem is that the triple plunger buttons don't click when pressed like the other side.  Should I have that switch replaced?  If so, what is it called?  And also if so, might it mess up my door locking trick?

I know, difficult to answer via email, but I did see your instructions elsewhere about grounding a light green wire from "anti-theft module located to left of steering column".  I don't know if that would apply to my Quest but I would like to deactivate it if possible.

Answer
No unfortunately on this one, there is no specific wire.
It must pulse the door unlock wire to disarm the factory
system at the same time. Something in the door trigger
array is spiking the alarm to start flashing the headlights
and sounding the horn.

If your remote is not able to control it,
then it is likely that replaceing the
door plungers in the frame would be prudent.
I would go direct to Nissan parts to do this right.

Not certain about the door "trick" being saved,
but it will discount the doors being the cause
of the false "panicing". Hopefully once the
plunger pin switches are replaced, the you
will regain the use of the remote and all will
be right as rain.
