Car Alarms: pass lock or antitheft, 1996 chevy lumina, chevy lumina

i changed the steering column in my 1996 Chevy Lumina Ls ,with a 3.1 ,and now the anti theft security light is flashing and the car wont turn over ,I thought it might be because of the resistor on the key! so I swapped the ignition and the tumbler, so i could use my old keys and it still wont turn over is there any thing I can do to get it out of the anti theft mode other then a dealer i have read about the bypass but can i do that once the anti theft has been activated thank you in advanced for any help you can give me

Not sure that it would work here, no.
It's not designed for that application.
It is designed to momentarily disable PASSLOCK &
to allow for remote start by grounding out the PASSLOCK
for that period of time (when remote starting through to cycle end),
then re establishing it's normal functions when the
remote start cycle is completed.

The happy coincidence here is that if you simply ground
the PLJX module input wire, it will keep PASSLOCK disabled
until un grounded, thus allowing the fuel injection rail to
go to normal function and stay that way. This works
95% of the time for ALL GM vehicles.

In your case, the PASSLOCK system is not functioning
according to it's intended use, and not in the proper or intended
vehicle, so I can not give you a guaranty that it will work.

But I'd try it if it were me. It is the cheaper method if
indeed it's a standard PASSLOCK functioning system
since GM will charge between 260. & 600. depending
on how they will have to "FIX" it. They have NO interest
in bypassing it since there's no money in it for them that
way. So they have customers constantly in the shop
"fixing" this issue. It is a built in "cash cow" for the service
department at GM.
