Car Alarms: Car Alarm goes off at random, bmw 3 series, resident technicians

Hi there,

I recently brought an N reg BMW 3 series "Compact".  I noticed that one of the rear brake lights was not working so brought a replacemnt bulb.  However, I accidently changed the wrong bulb and hence got into a bit of a mess swopping bulbs around etc.  I drove to Halfords where a member of staff put this right - all lights now work fine.

The problem is the alarm now goes off at random and the only way I can stop it is to open the boot, open the lighting compartment (on where I originally chnaged the bulb) and by giving this a tap stops the alarm!!!!

Nothing else can stop the alarm.  This even happened when I was driving it yesterday!!!!!!!!  

Do you have any answers or solutions to this very unusual problem?

my resident technicians there can assist
with this project.

I unfortunately don't know the
system you are working with to advise
you properly on it's functions,
features or trouble shooting
information. Better to check with a tech
that might.
