Car Alarms: factory anti theft alarm malfunctioning on 2000 Nissan Altima GXE, nissan altima, entrance control

Question
Our car alarm seems to be malfunctioning.  In a store parking lot last night the alarm sounded and lights flashed off and on for a good long time and we tried multiple times with the keyless entry to turn it off but it would not work.  Went inside store to purchase batteries for keyless entry thinking that was the problem with no success. Finally the alarm just shut off for a brief minute or two and as we were driving home it started sounding and flashing lights as we were driving down the road. We have called numerous mechanics and they all refer me back to the dealership(which the dealership will give me no info. except to bring the car in and have told me it will cost a good bit just to diagnose)saying that it is a tricky problem. Is there a way to disable this device and still be able to start/drive the car.  We truly are not concerned about theft.  We just want the car to stop honking.  We finally gave up last night and had to pull the battery charge to get this thing to shut up.  Please help if you can.

Answer
ok, not a problem.

Get out some basic install tools or get
a friend or a good technician
in there to do this.

Normally, you would insert the key in
the drivers door, turn left, then right
to disarm and reset it. Yours was reset.
Try key in the drivers door, turn left, then
right to diasrm and unlock. If no joy,
you can disable it for good by doing the
following:

The FACTORY ALARM DISARM WIRE IS
orange/blue |-| located in pin 30 at the SECU.
The SECU (Smart Entrance Control Unit) is located
@ the passengers side of the steering column.

Once Located, splice into this wire with
a simular guage wire, and put it to
a solid chassis ground. This terminates
the OEM alarm functions entirely.

However, at this point, this car would be exceedingly
easy to steel, so I suggest you get an aftermarket
alarm system to protect it from here on in.

If you have already have an after market alarm
however:

(SIREN & FLASHING PARKING LIGHTS= AFTER MARKET
or is it:
CAR HORN & FLASHING HEADLIGHTS= OEM-FACTORY)

Then look for the over ride/valet button under
the dash area, probably to the left leg region,
drilled into the plastic kick panel.

Then it's: KEY ON, PRESS AND HOLD IN BUTTON FIRMLY
UNTIL THE SIREN CHIRPS ONCE, AND THE PARKING LIGHTS
FLASH. THEN KEY OFF.

This is over ride, and the car should start.
The only thing that would work would be keyless
entry if it is installed. The alarm functions
have been suspended.

Let me know which applied to your issue.

Good luck.
