Car Alarms: 1993 Ford Mustang After-Market Alarm Problem, cylinoid, mustang lx

Question
I bought a 1993 Ford Mustang LX Convertible, the 4-cyl. version.  When I bought it, it ran like a top and is in obvious great condition.  One way or another, the battery died - When I put a new one in, an alarm goes off.  No noise, just clicking and the hazard lights are on and it clicks.  if you leave it, it goes off, if you open the door, it goes back on for a while.  its also draining every battery i put into it.  I've got to bypass it by leaving the key on and arching the cylinoid with a screwdriver.  I asked the local ford dealer about it and they said it was an aftermarket alarm, and to just cut it out.  I cut the lame horn out and the switch on the dash and the ground wire.  its very weird now, i hook the battery up (brand new) and the hazards are the only thing on, no clicking or anything, i arch the cylinoid to start it, it runs for a minute and then the alarm goes off.  at this point, i can turn the car on and off and the alarm isn't doing anything.  i thought i solved it but i let it sit for about a half an hour and the alarm goes off, hazards, no clicking, and i can't start the car without arching the cylinoid.  Perhaps its still connected to a fuse?  Please, i've tried a million different things and I know that someone somewhere knows exactly what I'm talking about.  Help me out!!!  Jim at nolovenopeace@aol.com   Thanks

Answer
You'll need to set off the alarm for a few seconds.
Then, look under the dash area for a button or, a toggle
switch. When you locate it, turn on the ignition
key, press and hold in the button (little
spring loaded micro button, red or black possibly)
until the alarm chirps 1 time. This should over ride
the system, and only the keyless entry part,
if installed, would still be operating.
The LED (light emiting diode) light in the dash
should also go on solid.

At this point. the alarm would have reset.
If this had a starter kill relay installed,
it would now be opened, and the engine would
turn over when tried.

You would repeat these steps to go back to
user mode to see if this was corrected.

But if it does work, I'd keep it this way, and
replace the alarm asap with one you know and
understand how it operates for the best overall
experience.

Let me know if it works for yours.
