Car Alarms: Pontiac Bonneville 96, bonneville 96, pontiac dealership

Question
QUESTION: This may be a bit of a repeat question, but the question before was not worded well and was confusing.
I have a 1996 Pontiac Bonneville that is having trouble with the alarm system.  We took it to a Pontiac dealership, and they charged us $150 to tell us what we already knew--that the alarm system is hooked up to the door.
The problem is this:
The alarm worked fine when we first bought the car.  Recently we have discovered that the alarm was originally installed at the factory.  However, last winter when it got cold, the alarm started going off without any apparent reason.  This occurred several times before the alarm just shut off completely.  That was fine with us, because we would prefer to not have an alarm on the car than worry about when it's going to work.  We thought the problem was solved.  However, the alarm began working again recently, since the weather has turned colder.  The dealership we took it to told us that it would cost us an additional $650 to get it fixed.  Since they already took $150 from us for not doing anything, we were hoping you might be able to help us solve the problem ourselves.  Would there be a way to safely disarm the alarm without interfering with the door locks?  The alarm is connected with the locks, which are automatic, but we were hoping there might be a way to safely avoid tampering with the locks while fixing the alarm problem.  Please let us know.

ANSWER: Is there a siren in this car Jason?
Or is it honking the car horn, and
flashing a security light in the dash?
