Question
QUESTION: hello-- I have a 1997 accord se. The problem I am having is with the door looks and auto starter (aftermarket). With aftermarket keyfob, If i unlock the doors or try to start the car, the factory alarm will go off. When trying manually to unlock, 6 out of 10 times the alarm will go off. to turn off alarm I open the door, lock-unlock-lock the door, shut door and open with key. all worked fine for the first 1 year and 1/2. any advice on fixing this? new brain was suggested by alarm place? thx in advance.

ANSWER: I agree with a new alarm brain.
Hard to say why it's sporatic, so
the best thing is to start with a
new brain box to see if it changes
the behavior. If so, the old one
is scrap. If not, then we know that too,
and need to track down the reason.

Could be that simple.

Let me know what you discover.

QUESTION: thanks for such a quick reply. could you point me in the right direction for which part? what type of brain? i understand that there are differnt ones for different car ops. should it be as easy as swap and all will work or is there anything to reprogram?

Answer
Start by using the remote.
Go to www.keynfob.com and
identify what you have there,
using the FCC ID # on the back.
then see if you can locate
the manufacturer. And then you
can get that definative answer.

You will need to reprogram the
current remotes though to the new
brain. Get that info as well from
the manufacturer.

Luck with it.
