What is a good way to determine if a bypass module is needed for an alarm or remote starter on non gm cars.. b/c on GM cars if they have the chip you need a bypass module?

I saw on your website where you can use relays to disarm an factory alarm to use and aftermarket alarm, my question is if I use relays to bypass an factory alarm on lets say a 2004 GM tahoe or any type of newer GM.. would the GM bypass module be needed if I was going to put a full alarm w/remote start on it.. if so where could I find the information on w/cars need an bypass module.. thanks the site is very informative
Answer -
Sure, go to my site
at www.passlockbypass.com and see the options.
But I suggest the module for a true and steady
setup, without maint.

Good luck.

Answer -
It does not work that way anylonger. In 1998 virtually all
gm truck platforms went to passlock II and most cars since
1989 have it. There is no way to tell unless
you open the ignition column wiring and locate the
reader. But the short answer is you won't know which
transponder type you have unless you are told by
GM or, a professional tech site like ALARMTEK.

Not supposed to be common knowledge since it is
a security issue.
