Car Alarms: Alarm Problem, remote keyless entry, mitsubishi eclipse

Question
I'm the owner of a 1996 Mitsubishi Eclipse Gs. Today i was driving down the street and the alarm just started going off. turning off the car did nothing to stop the problem. i had to get out of the car and put the key in the door, and lock/unlock the door for it to stop. it's done this 3 times since. i just want to disarm my alarm for the time being so i don't have to deal with this right now. Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated. I just need to disarm/unhook the alarm.

Thank you in advance.

Answer
Ok, this cars security is part of
the OEM door lock system.
They are the same module and as such,
are used to lock/arm unlock/disarm.

Normally, you would insert the key in
the drivers door, turn left, then right
to disarm and reset it. If yours is malfunctioning,
then you will need to add a remote keyless entry of some sort
to control and disarm it.

If you have already have an after market keyless/alarm
however:

(SIREN & FLASHING PARKING LIGHTS= AFTER MARKET
or is it:
CAR HORN & FLASHING HEADLIGHTS= OEM-FACTORY)

Then look for the over ride/valet button under
the dash area, probably to the left leg region,
drilled into the plastic kick panel.

Then it's: KEY ON, PRESS AND HOLD IN BUTTON FIRMLY
UNTIL THE SIREN CHIRPS ONCE, AND THE PARKING LIGHTS
FLASH. THEN KEY OFF.

This is over ride, and the car should start.
The only thing that would work would be keyless
entry if it is installed. The alarm functions
have been suspended.

Let me know which applied to your issue.

Good luck.
