Motorcycle Repair: starter replacement 2002 Fatboy, torque starter, starter problems

2002 fatboy 1450cc bought used with big bore kit 6000 miles no compression releases.. mikuni carb shortie pipes..I'm told about 100 HP. I have starter problems begining to develope already ie. banging noise ..and sometimes no contact ..just a hell of a noise at times when
I hit the starter button.
Question...do I need a 1.2 kw unit..1.4kw unit..or 1.6 kw starter unit ?

You never said what kind of compression you have with the big bore kit. Higher the compression, harder it is for the motor to turn over. Your problem might be that the ignition is advanced to far which will cause the same problem. If the ignition is ok then you probably need a higher torque starter. I would go with a high torque, low gear 2.0 starter.
