Question
QUESTION: Hi, I've got a Wrangler Jeep 4.0l UK Spec, which comes with a factory fitted immobiliser. Is it possible to remove this?, as the keyfobs are very unreliable.

thanks

PB.

ANSWER: Doubtfull.
It's likely to be a permanant fixture
on the UK model as it's part of your vehicle laws.

However, bypassing the immobiliaer can be done using
one of the coded keys, and a bypass module designed
to "trick" the immobilizer into thinking
the key is in the ignition at all times. Then a standard
hardware store key would be able to start it.

The bypass for yours runs 74.00 (US).

Let me know if interested.

QUESTION: Wow .. thanks for the quick responsse (and your much quicker than I am !), there arent any laws that state there must be an imobiliser on teh vehicle, but every Wrangler has them here .. can you explain a little more about the trick kit, and whats involved in sorting out a key fob less start! ..

many thanks!

Answer
Hmmm, I'd like to make sure that this is a Jeep
immobilizer though. If it's after market There would
be a relay inline on the starter wire that can be
removed. This is the free solution.

Any way I can get a digital pic of the key
switch and harness coming down the steering column?

Please send it to INSTALLSUPPORT@AOL.COM
so I can evaluate it. and if it turns
out to be a "factory" issued immobilizer,
the bypass needed would be only 34.00 (US)+ s&h to the UK.
The TBKIII bypass kit is a 3rd generation Universal Transponder Bypass module (Ignition Key Required),
designed to temporarily bypass most OEM transponder type ignition immobilizer systems when remote starting.
In your case, you would ground out the input wire instead of using a momentary ground pulse from a
remote starter's brain box. You will then
simply have an aluminum key made at the local hardware
store to start the engine, as the immobilizer is now
inert until un grounded.

Send me a picture if possible so I can
make the call for you.
