Car Alarms: Prestige Platinum Model APS-997, mrs stevens, chirps

Question
My husband and I are seniors.  We have had work done on our car, and now the display screen on our APS-997 shows that both our trunk and hood are open - which they are not.

When we set the alarm at night, we get three chirps & it shows that both the trunk & hood are open (which they are not).  When we turn it off we get the same three chirps.

We have tried reading the manual, but it is confusing to seniors like us.  When we tried talking to the installer, they just shrugged and said that they didn't know.

Can you help us so that our APS-997 shows the accurate state of our car (hood and trunk closed)?

Thank you.

Answer
Dear Mrs Stevens,
Please contact the installers, and ask them
again to check the open circuit on the hood/truck
wire THEY attached, or in this case, from the
sounds of it, may have FORGOTTEN to attach to
your vehicle.

This wire detects the trunk or the hood opening, and
reports the same to the LCD remote. If left undone,
usually it will not report but If mis connected, or
if there is indeed an open circuit being read, like
a truck light is on all the time, or the hood light,
it will always send that report to the keychain.
And it will also give you the 3 chirps telling you
something is still on/open.

If no joy at your current installer, have another
car alarm shop inspect it.

I hope this helps to narrow down the issue
and it can be addressed quickly.

(Oh, byt the by, I'm a senior now too! lol)

Have a good day.
