Car Alarms: 2006 Elantra Alarm Problem, hyundai elantra, valet mode

Question
I have an 2006 Hyundai Elantra. It was involved in an accident. The damage was to the left rear door. The door had to be replaced. Now after i have got it back from the body shop, the remote alarm wont get armed. The remote key locks and unlocks as it should. But While locking, on the first attempt it locks all doors and on the second lock when it should squeak and the alarm system should be armed, it does not. And also, while locking the lights wont flash. It flashes as it should on unlocking.
And since it wont arm the alarm system, i can open the door and also the back hood with my key and it wont start the alarm.

Answer
Should be no problem really.
It appears from your expaination, that the
car alarm is in service mode.

Ok, try this.
Put the key in the ignition, and turn forward
all the way just before cranking. Then within
5 seconds, press and hold in the valet/overide
button, found under the dash area, usually to the
left of the leg drilled into a hidden away spot,
until the installed LED (the blinking light)
in your dash area goes off, and the siren chirps twice.
(Your valet switch might be the toggle (on/off) type.
in this case, key on, flip switch in oposite direction,
key off.)

This should reset the alarm.

Just Repeat these steps to place it
back to valet mode.

That should do it.
Let me know what happens.
