Car Alarms: Dash , parking , tail lights & alarm snafu, dash area, little spring

Question
Ever since I inadvertantly started my 88 camry while the engine was still running, my alarm and above-mentioned lights have not worked. The alarm locks me out and won't let me in (door locks were all busted by thieves). When I shut the engine off, the alarm keeps chirping on and off as if tripped, instead of the normal siren. So I have to disconnect my battery from fear of draining it overnight. The alarm locks me out at will and the remote does not work and won't let me in. I have to use a hanger to pry the knob up. The fuse that controls the dash, parking, tail keeps blowing. So it seems I'm dealing with a short and a blown alarm control module. Can you help. My local mech says he would need the alarm diagram before attempting a diagnostics run.
Any help would be appreciated.

Answer
You'd need to track down the manual as the
mechanic suggested to do the correctly.
If you still have the remotes, go to a site like www.keylessride.com.
www.keynfob.com , or www.remotes4you.com
to ID it and then try to locate the manufacturer.
There are way too many to offer a simple answer.

To try to overide/disarm it, locate and use the
valet/overide switch.

To start, look under the dash area for a button or,
a toggle switch. When you locate it, turn on the
ignition key, press and hold in the button (little
spring loaded micro button, red or black possibly)
until the alarm chirps 1 time. This should over ride
the system, and only the keyless entry part,
if installed, would still be operating.
The LED (light emiting diode) light in the dash
should also go on solid.=VALET/OVERIDE

This stops the alarm except for the keyless
entry if installed. Then do your removal or repair
and reset it back to usable mode when they are
complete.

I hope this works out for you.
