Car Alarms: Mazda Immobilizer, ford laser, mazda protege

Question
Hi mate, i've got an audiovox APS966 alarm with remote start etc installed into a '99 Mazda Protege (it's actually a Ford Laser in australia but it's the same thing). I've had the remote start working for the last couple years by putting the key inside the immobilizer ring and mounting it up in the steering column shroud, so the car starts regardless whether the proper key is used or a blank. This is good because it means my remote start works however I'd like the security of the factory immobililser. I belive that there is a black box the size of a cigarette packed at the base of the column that controls the immobilizer but can't work out how it does it's thing?? My alarm came with 4 black wires that are obviously used to somehow turn the factory system off... Would you happen to know how to do it or could you point me in the right direction? Thanks!!

Answer
Have a look at the transmod bypass box at
www.relayhelp.com or at www.passlock2.com

This houses the ignition key, and through a pulse,
allows the remote start to happen.

See if this is what you are talking about.

Not sure of the 4 wires unless a chip type
disable system was installed, cut out, and these wires
are still "hanging" there.

Let me know if this applies.
