Car Alarms: Car alarm malfunction, alarmtek, dash area

Question
I have a 2002 Olds Silhouette.  Out in my garage this evening, the car alarm intermittently goes off, and I have to go out and stop it by way of turning the ignition first on and then off. It continued until I took the battery out of my remote control.  What could be happening?

Answer
I need to determine whether it's a factory alarm
issue or, if it's an aftermarket system you are
dealing with.

Many veriables on this vehicle &
I Require a bit more imput please.

Is it: Headlights flashing, car horn honking
and a worded SECURITY" light in the dash flashing?
Or,
is it: flashing parking lights,
an LED in the dash area, and a siren
going off?

Let me know more on this to better
advise you on a course of action
to take, to help you to fix this
situation you're in quickly.

(PS) if the remote is constantly sending a signal
by itself, it's likely a bad transmitter. Clean
all buttons and contact points with alcohol and
bend out any touching metal connections inside
it, then put the battery back in to try again.
If no joy, replace it.
