Car Alarms: 06 honda civic-locking doors inside sets alarm, keyless entry system, safety enhancements

Question
I have an 06 honda civic and if you sit inside and lock the doors manually, the alarm sets, keeping you from starting the engine. Can this be changed? My daughter is used to closing her door, locking the door and then starting the engine.

Answer
No if this is the Honda factory keyless entry system,
then you can not change the programmed protocals.
They are set up for "Honda Safety Enhancements".

Now, if this is an aftermarket system, in the manual for the
alarm, you would look under the feature settings index.
Locate the section on Auto Lock/Unlock, and how
to disable this feature. It should explaing
the procedure. If not, contact the dealer, locate
the contracted installer, and get the manual, or
info so you can do it yourself.

First thing is to contact the Honda service dept.
near you to ask the questions you need answered,
and ID what she has there.
