Car Alarms: 96 Dodge Gd. Caravan Alarm, dash area, button spring

Question
Hope some can answer. I purchased a 96 Grand Caravan, The alarm system i think is factory. But here the situation i was sitting outside and the keys were in the house. and the alarm just starts going off. No when i try to disable it, it doesnt work, i have to press one of the three buttons not knowing which one until it goes off. Also i think everytime i set the alarm and then disable it, i think it has a kill switch or something cause its a pain to start.

i woul like to disable it but still have the keyless entry is that posible.

Answer
Is it a 6 tone siren or the car horn blarring?
Headlights or parking lights flashing?

If it's the latter, the factory alarm arms and disarms
when you lock and unlock the doors (with a key or
by remote). If malfuntioning, you would need to do some
dealership inspecting, and possibly replacement of
either the door mechanism, or the security module.
There is no simple fix you can do.

If aftermarket, put the key in the ignition,
and turn forward all the way just before cranking.
Then within 5 seconds, locate, press and hold in
the valet/overide button, found under the
dash area, (push button, spring loaded)
until the installed LED (the blinking light)
in your dash area goes on solid,
and the siren chirps once.

(Your valet switch might be the toggle
(on/off) type. in this case, key on,
flip switch in opposite direction,
then turn the key off.)

This should reset the alarm.

At this point, the only thing working would
be the keyless entry from the alarm,
if it came equipped that way.

Just Repeat these steps to place it
back to usable armed mode.
You may get 2 chirps, confirming it,
and the lights may flash twice as well.

That should do it.

Let me know what you find.
